Stories that give the class the words

Every book comes with free classroom notes and printables. Print as many as you need, for your room, your library or your whole year level.

How every story works

Trigger, emotion, behaviour, consequence, coping, and an emotional win the child says in their own words. The lesson is never announced, so the talk afterwards is where it lands.

  1. 1TriggerMum says it flat: no screens today.
  2. 2EmotionWillow is outraged. The day is ruined.
  3. 4ConsequenceTo write it all down, she has to look properly.
  4. 5CopingAn ant with nine hundred friends. A worm called Greg.
  5. 6I can…“I can have a brilliant day with the screens off.”

What's in the notes

  • A read-aloud plan for the book
  • Three talk-about questions
  • One activity and the printable to go with it
  • One extension idea

Where they fit

The stories sit alongside the Early Years Learning Framework (identity and wellbeing) and the Australian Curriculum's Personal and Social Capability. Here's the research behind them.
